Photography Mission 2015

I am sitting here in the dark in my bedroom because I always feel awkward turning the light on when my roommate is here. Never mind that our windows face east and that the sun starts setting around 5:30 making our room pretty dark by 6 pm. But she doesn’t seem all that concerned with the inability to see, so I leave the light off even though I’m sitting right next to the switch. You might be wondering what any of that has to do with photography, and I can assure you that it has everything to do with the subject. How? Well, I recently invested in a wonderful book: More

Inspiration Station: Winter

Oh, hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted any inspiration, so I figured that would be nice. Winter is just around the corner (as if that means anything to me given the nature of my location…), and it’s one of my favorite times of year to go out and take pictures. But since I won’t have a real winter (or real as I’ve come to know it), I thought, instead, that you all could use the inspiration: More

Summertime Sadness: More Photos from Makapu’u

I’m not really sad, I’m just listening to Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” (which is such a perfect soundtrack when reading this post).

But anyway.

I’ve finally regained normal feeling in my body. It took almost a week, but it’s nice to be able to move without wincing in pain. As you probably recall from this week’s Monochrome Monday, I went on a crazy adventure to the Makapu’u tide pools. While there, I got the chance to take some incredibly fun photos with my new waterproof Nikon. And as usual with me, some of the best photos I take are accidents. Check it out below: More

Inspiration Station: The Pursuit of Happiness

I know, I know. I haven’t blogged in a month. My life is 100% run by my internship at the moment, not that I mind much simply because I love going to work everyday. But with only a few weeks until my internship ends, I figured it was time to get back into the swing of blogging. So I have some new inspiration for you: More

Inspiration Station: A Sense of Self

New segment time! Sort of. Anyway. To produce the images that you see here so often, I do a great deal of research first. More

Adventures in Photography Class – Ep. 6: Composition (Part 2)

Good early morning/late evening. Sorry for my lack of posting over the past week. I was super sick all last week, and then yesterday, I was busy cleaning my room and preparing stuff for my spring break trip to Florida. I’m super excited! It’s my first and last time ever celebrating spring break, and I think I’ve chosen a pretty epic vacation (just wait for all the pictures). Plus, I got some other awesome news at the start of the week, but I’ll save that for later since I want to take a picture first to somehow adequately symbolize the news. Until then, I’ve got the second part of my composition assignment from my photography class and I think you all will love it: More

Adventures in Photography Class – Ep. 5: Composition (Part 1)

Good Friday, dearest readers! It’s wet and gray, but it’s still a good day. Today was my second to last day of class before my “off-season” (aka, the two extremely busy yet insanely fun weeks I’m going to spend living out of cars and hotel rooms). So to celebrate, I’ve got part one of my latest daily assignment for my photography class. Lately, we’ve been dealing with composition: More
