There comes a time in an artist’s life where they enter a sort of metamorphosis, if you will. Just as great musicians alter their sound or a painter embraces a new technique over time, photographers often experiment with new locations, new models, new equipment, and new styles. In nearly six years as a practicing photographer, I have come a long way. Though many things have stayed the same (like my equipment and my love of portraits), lots has changed. The quality of my images, the number of images I take and have to weed through, my intentions…and that’s exactly what my most recent photo shoot showcases. But it wasn’t an easy photo session, and I want to provide some insight as to the what, how, and why behind this slight “MPS makeover.” Take a look: More

This won’t take long; it’s time for bed. But I wanted to go on and throw it out to the universe/blogosphere that earlier this afternoon, my entire world as a photographer was completely shattered. I don’t typically do anything risqué (more like never) and, honestly, I haven’t really thought much about it given that the bulk of my photography has just naturally been things like senior pictures and quirky themes my friends and I come up with when we’re bored. But this time around, I was asked to try something that was not only new to me, but new to my model (now a seasoned pro as far as McClish Photography Studios goes) as well. I want to discuss it in-depth once I have the time to really sit and write about it, but until then I figured I would pretty much just drop the bomb, let it fester, and see what happens. Today, I conducted my first ever swimsuit photo shoot: More

Oh my goodness. Am I actually blogging right now? Well, hello there. Long time no see. We can attribute nearly all of my lack of dedication to blogging and picture taking to quarter-life crises and the start of yet another school year. Mostly the latter at the moment. But I figured that, since I had the time this morning, I would post just a few pictures from the start of the school year as a reminder that my passion has not been forsaken and that I miss being behind a camera (any camera) greatly. Happy Aloha Friday to you! It’s officially spring break; not that it matters because I have rehearsal everyday during the break. Still, it will be nice not to have class for a week. Then it will be back to the grind to finish out the semester. But that’s not what I came here for. I came here to share some lovely images from yesterday’s photo session with my friend Taylor: More

Well hello, everyone. Happy first day of spring! Before we jump down my throat about yet another short photo drought, please know that I have a legitimate excuse. I was in the throes of tech week (aka hell week) and the opening/closing of the show that I was stage managing. There’s no time for anything aside from class when I’m in the midst of a production. But I figured that I would share a very wonderful announcement (at least I think it’s wonderful) with you all: More

Good evening. If I could find the spare time to breathe and post a Monochrome Monday, I totally would. But rehearsals run my life these days, and I get in after 11 pm every night and after sending emails and getting work done, I shower and go straight to bed. And then I wake up, go to class, and repeat the cycle all over again. Sounds thrilling, right? The life of a theatre kid. But today was a little different. I don’t have class on Wednesdays, and usually I spend that time doing homework in my room or running errands around campus. But today I decided to take myself (and subsequent responsibilities) to the beach. More

What I love most about hump day is not the act of humping (do people actually do that on Wednesdays) but the fact that I don’t have class. I should probably be reading a play or something productive, but I was awoken at 9 am by the sound of construction taking place outside my window so I feel like I can spend a little time lounging around doing nothing. But in my morning laziness, I figured I could post a quick photo: More

Good evening/early morning. I realize there was no Monochrome Monday yesterday. I thought I could have gotten it taken care of, but my first adventure of the break sent me on a wild goose chase for the post office which ate up a lot of my time. However, I do have some lovely images from my evening trip to the beach to make up for it: More

Hello! Sorry for the lack of posting this week. I meant to post on Monday, but I had a million things to do. Then I was going to post yesterday, but we took a field trip in class, so I couldn’t do it then. But worry not! Tonight I have some more gorgeous photos from my lovely spring break: More
